My Trip to New York City
Over the fall break, my family and I traveled to New York City. We took my grandmother because it has always been on her bucket list. We took the Amtrak train from High Point to New York, which was a fun experience. We left at around 7 a.m. and got to New York around 6 p.m. We stayed at the Belvedere Hotel, which has been around since the 1920's. On our first day there, we went down to Battery Park, and rode the Staten Island Ferry past the Statue of Liberty. After that, we went to the 9/11 memorial to see the reflecting pools. That was a very moving experience. We walked over to Fifth Avenue to go up to the Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Plaza. We also went into St. Patrick's Cathedral, which is beautiful. We walked back to the hotel after that because we were exhausted. We stopped in at an authentic Italian pizza place to eat dinner first. The next day we went to Central Park. We took a carriage ride around the park to see all the sights. It was really fun to ride in the carriage and we saw many cool things, like the Plaza Hotel and the Bethesda Fountain. We went back to Times Square to shop around and then went to Junior's Cheesecake Restaurant for lunch. We took my grandparents back to the hotel, then my mom and I went to the Harry Potter store in New York, which was really cool. We went back to the hotel to rest because that night we had tickets to Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. It was a really amazing show. The next day we got on a train to head home. The train ride back was not as comfortable as the first ride and it was very bumpy. We left New York at 7 a.m. and didn't get home until 8 p.m. Overall, the trip was really great and my grandmother got to cross New York City off of her bucket list.
